# Trying to send scene changews to CQ18T via forscore

forscore is a leadsheet management system that I use on an ipad. I’ve connected the ipad to the CQ18T via USB.

The CQ18T is on MIDI Channel 1. I have no other MIDI controlled devices on CH1.

Every time I send these combinations of commands to the CQ18T, forscore crashes.

I’ve tried  
B0 00 00  
C0 01 (for scene 2)

or

B0 00 00  
Program Change 01 00 00 02 (for scene 2)

What am I doing wrong?

Scene is midi directly controlled with program change only.  
Do you the possibility to send a simple Program change ?  
I mean not in hex ?

It seems that the program change message works, but after it is sent, forscore crashes. Is the mixer sending data back to forscore that causes it to crash? I see a ton of midi data being transmitted for what should be a simple command.

Here’s another piece of data. If I set 2 of the hot keys on the CQ18T to Scene Previous and Scene Next, and I have the USB cable connected to my ipad with forscore running, pushing either of those hot keys causes forscore to crash. So it seems that just changing a scene on the CQ18T must send some data into my ipad to forscore that causes it to crash.

Yes, scene change send a bunch of midi data out from the CQ.  
Do you any parameter inside forscore to disable midi IN ?  
Just keep the midi OUT form forscore active ?

I checked and forscore doesn’t have the ability to ignore MIDI in. This would have to be something that I can set on the CQ18T to inhibit sending that data.

There is some IOS app than manage midi routing that you should try.
