I am new to the SQ. When using a stereo aux type mix, do you have to gang the two Aux Outs fader controls and adjust L with one aux out and r with the next one in the stereo pairing? I am a bit confused.
If you configure an Aux as Stereo, both channels will only have one common fader.
But you will need to patch the 2 channels of the aux to 2 (or more) different physical outputs.
So you would say use faders on Aux mix 3 and it would also control Aux mix 4 if Aux 3 was set to stereo. You would use 3 and 4 outputs to take the stereo feed to IEM system?
If you configure Aux 3 as stereo, it has nothing to do with Aux 4.
Aux 4 is still separate and can also be configured as mono or stereo.
And it is up to you whether you patch the 2 channels of Aux 3 to your physical outputs 3 and 4, or also 6 and 7, for example, or even both pairs at the same time.
So you would use some type of splitter cable out of the XLR to two channels on an IEM systems for L and R?
Unfortunately, I donât know what kind of IEM system you are using and how you have connected it so far.
If your IEM system ideally has 2 XLR inputs (L/R), you donât need a splitter cable but 2 XLR cables.
We use the Sennheiser with an XLR IN for L and R. This would mean I would use say Aux 3 and 4 Local outs for Aux 3 when in stereo mode?
âSennheiserâ is a manufacturer and not a device name, so we still donât know what youâre using.
But since even inexpensive Sennheiser devices can be stereo, I assume that it has not one but 2 separate XLR inputs for L and R.
So you donât need a split cable but 2 XLR cables.
And if you configure your Aux 3 to stereo as described, you can, as already described, patch these two channels to any connections on your desk (or stage box) - including outputs 3 and 4 (see picture).
In this scenario then you would use Aux 3 as the fader master for both physical outputs? That is my main question. Coming from the Soundcraft UI24R, one would have to link the two physical output to get a fader change on both outputs. I appreciate all your help.
I wrote at the very beginning:
So is your Aux 3.
To reiterate what SQuser wrote, AUX3 (for example) can be configured as MONO or STEREO. When configured as stereo, it does not âstealâ AUX4.
This is unlike some vendorâs desks that will.
If you configure AUX3 as STEREO, then there will be a LEFT and RIGHT ouput appear in the ouput patch.
You then have to patch the L and R ouputs from AUX3 to two (2) separate OMNI out XLRs.

I think this may answer my question. A stereo aux would take up two physical outputs but would be one aux user interface under the stereo aux.
My English is probably too bad.
Sorry if others can express it better.
Teamwork.
We eventually sorted wildrâs query out between us!
Your English is fine. My German is rusty thoughâŚ

Your help is much appreciated.
