Universal Pre/Post Fader setting in CQ20b

Unlike most of the desks I have owned and operated the CQ20b will not allow isolated pre/post fader assignments between output #1 and the LR mains. If I missed something please bring me up to date. I have routinely assigned pre fader only for years with the Waves card in my SQ5 for multi channel direct recording and today the Waves LV1 classic that is my main workhorse has extensive isolated choices.
Given the fact my trusty CQ20b has a very limited role in my work these days it will not make much difference. Pragmatically thinking about it, it’s just another missing conveince that was necessary to scale down the little desk.

A clear understanding of the tasks required of the little desk and a relative evaluation of their respective importance should be pursued. A venue SR mix will never have the same requirements as a remote delivery (broadcast, streaming, U-Tube or ancillary space distribution): so being aware of the fact that isolated mixes to any of the 6 additional outputs beyond the main LR in a CQ20b will need a global pre fader setting. In the CQ20b it’s the only way to deliver two separate mixes.
Please remember in preFader setting only the Gain/Trim & PEQ will be global, all additional FX (Comps, reverbs, and channel input levels) will need to be individually assigned. It absolutely will require more work however it is the only way comprehensive separate mixes can be achieved!
