Virtual Sound Check

Thank you for your time.

I would like to do a virtual sound check of our preacher so that I can play with the EQ, compression, etc. during the week sometime.

But I have no clue where to begin. I have an iMac and macbook. I have ableton standard. I am willing to purchase anything I need (if you recommend something different).

But how do I connect it, and how do I route his input to the DAW?

Why don’t you keep it simple and use a flash drive in QU drive? If your only goal is to virtual soundcheck, why set up anything else if you don’t actually need a DAW?

Wonderful. I agree 100%. Just didn’t know I could do that? What do I do, just plug in my USB drive into the top of the mixer? How do I tell it to record?

Yes but bear in mind some drives do not work as well as others. If your’s doesn’t work well you will need to purchase one that does.

The manual will explain how to record. From memory, you will go into ‘set-up’ and format the drive. Then go into ‘Home’ and choose Qu Drive. You will get a choice of stereo or multi track record - so make sure to use multitrack. Easy peasy… Good luck!

Thank you! When I playback, will I be able to route his sermon through the same channel that it was live?

Yes - that is the beauty of it. Make sure that you are recording the channels you want because you can assign the ones you want to record up to the max - QU16 is 16 plus L & R max for example so make sure if you are using one of the stereo channels that you assign it to record.

Awesome. I’ll just be recording the preacher (one channel) for now. Thanks for your info!
