I’m curious as to when people plan to upgrade to version 2 of the firmware? Will you go to 2.0 or wait for 2.01 to fix the inevitable bugs introduced in such a massive overhaul?
There are lots of new features we’d like to start using, but are leery of being on the “bleeding edge”. Maybe A&H could address how many beta sites they had and how long they were being used in the real world before V2.0 was released?
A&H are famed for not saying when they are going to release updates. Basically they don’t release until a sufficient level of stability and bug-freeness has been reached. Which is both good and bad, some organisations publish a schedule and miss it, or rush to release an update that is so full of bugs as to be totally unusable.
Running V2.0 on my Avantis and so far it seems very stable, I would be more than happy to use it at a gig thats for sure. With the UFX/Deep Processing package it is a massive upgrade to the systems we run. Just need some more I/O now.
I usually avoid new major versions initially like the plague. This time, however, I had a pause of a few weeks for the Avantis console and was really keen to try out the new features.
I’m currently in the process of programming a new show and, despite intensive testing with Virtual Soundcheck, I haven’t found any show-stoppers – nor any noticeable bugs.
