Wishlist, support android devices

Support for audio transfer via USB B to android devices for streaming function etc.. Very important feature..

Hello bonge!

You can already do this - are you have issues using audio streaming to an Android device?
Typically if this isn’t working, it’ll likely be a hardware incompatibility on the Android side as there are some devices that don’t support the use of an external audio interface of this type.
What device are you using?

Hello my friend and thank you about your fast response.

Allen & heath product support, send me this email (screenshots).

So I’m confused right now..

The problem is that doesnt work (try this at samsung s24 ultra and s22 ultra). Also doesn’t work to one Windows tablet which doesn’t have the suggested drivers and do the same thing.. (laptop with suggested drivers, working like charm).

The sound streams about 2 secs or less and after that, just stop..

I used before buy cq12t, behringer xr18 and presonus revelator io44 for my streams with my android phones/tablets and all works with no problem..

I upgraded my equipment to cq12t, but now this feature is missing.. (and I’m really disappointed about that) I’m really sure is software issue and it’s easy to add this to next updates.. I don’t want to change all my equipment and go to Apple, just to be able streaming from my phone!

Thank you again for your time!!:smiley:

Aha! I will chat to Luke and update this thread shortly.

Confusion resolved!

You’d asked about a DJI pocket camera via email, which wouldn’t be supported.

When it comes to iOS devices, CQ is class compliant so we’re able to guarantee that it works.
When it comes to Android, implementation is handled much more patchily on the OEM side, so there are some devices it’ll work for and others that it won’t. I’ve just tested my phone here in the office on a CQ and was able to get audio to and from the CQ, so I know that it can work…depending on the device. For what it’s worth, I have the CQ set to 48kHz and stereo mode - multitrack mode requires app support, another layer of uncertainty.

If your two Samsung devices aren’t working, that suggests that maybe they’re doing something that doesn’t match what the CQ expects for a USB audio connection. Similarly the Windows tablet would require our driver - but this may not be possible if it was a Windows on ARM tablet, as we are not able to support Windows on ARM currently.

Unfortunately, it’s not a clear “yes it’ll work” on Android as there are so many devices vendors doing things in so many different ways. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you again my friend for your time and support..

First of all, I dont ask about dji pocket cam but I just mention I tried to stream at this device too and I failed again.. My concern is about android mobile phones cause Is the half of what I need from cq to do..

Can I ask what model is your phone so i can find a solution for me? I can see it’s too complicated with all android devices that exist but I have two with probably best brand name in the market and they are flagship too, but they don’t work and this is not acceptable..

Any suggestions?? I need help and I dont want to carry more cables and second equipment with me for just streaming?

Thanks a lot!! :smiling_face::smiling_face:

It’s no problem!

It’s very difficult for me to make a solid recommendation for a phone, but I can share in an unofficial capacity that I’ve just tested it as working on stereo/48kHz with both the Nothing Phone 3 and a Google Pixel 4a 5G. In both cases, I was using a USB “dock” that provided several USB A ports, and a USB A-B cable.
Have you tried several cables or with a USB-C hub to see if that will help? Sometimes it isn’t necessarily just the device - there may be other factors too.

Hello again,

I’m back after various experiments I’ve done in the last while on this specific topic.. I’ve tried various Samsung devices, even the S25 Ultra, which is Samsung’s latest flagship, and on all these devices it has the same issue.. on the contrary, it works well on some Android devices that I’ve tried, such as TCL and Honor and of course apple iphone.. as I can understand empirically, the issue is that Samsung probably uses some standard on its devices that the console is unable to handle so that the stream can be done.. so what I’m asking is someone expert from your team try to fix the issue and give us the ability in an update to use Samsung devices for streaming in the future..

Thx a lot!! :slightly_smiling_face:
