A bit lost with shows/senes

Hi,
I’m a little lost with the scenes/shows.
I mix two different groups, so I’ve created a show for each group and a scene in each show (maybe this is a mistake?).
When I recall a show, do I have to recall the scene too?

Here my current workflow, but maybe there is better approach:
For each group:

  • Load the show
  • Make the changes
  • Save the scene
  • Save the show

You can, and probably should, use a different show for each group. This will give you more flexibility as things come up for each. Then, yes, save a scene for each. When you load a show for one of the groups you then recall the scene. If you decide you need to make some changes for a particular point in the show, you can record another scene for it and recall it when needed. Scenes are really helpful because they snapshot everything and can be recalled at will.

That sounds overkill to me.

Most things are stored in a scene, so are recalled when you load that scene.

However, there are a couple of things that are stored in a show that can catch you out. The key items being:

  1. Input/Output stereo linking.
  2. USB source and sample rate.

What is stored in a show and a scene is described within the documentation.

I would have a default scene for each group you mix for to act as a starting point and load that default scene for the group you are mixing for at the start of the session.

Tweak the mixer settings to suit and store to a working scene for that night.

Either that or subdivided the available scenes into groups with one group of scenes for each group of musicians/vocalists that you mix for.

If you do link input or output channels as stereo pairs (e.g. for a keyboard) use the same linked channels for all groups you mix for.

My main concern is that I have different links for both bands. One is a Rock band (no stereo links), the other has 2 stereo keyboards and a stereo guitar (quad cortex).
Having a show for each band seems definitely to be the bet approach.
Thanks for your answers.

At least you have arrived at that decision based upon facts…
