A question of Users?

OK, so I can have ten users set up (plus the admin user) on an SQ5.
Now, at our church we have a couple of external groups use our building, each with their own particular (peculiar??) stage configurations, plus a couple of in-house groups and of course the “house band”. The external organisations are easy, just assign each a user, lock out the things they shouldn’t ned to touch, give them a few scenes.
But for our own groups it gets a bit more interesting - especially the house band (who would have guessed that!). I did a quick count and think I would need more than ten individual users, so pair up people (particularly the backing singers). This brings me to the question - can a user using MySQ be logged in more than once?

I wish A&H would increase their user count so that we could break out individual musicians as unique users. As you are experiencing, many times the current limit of 10 isn’t large enough to assign a unique user to each musician - which would make life easier.

To answer your question however - yes, a single user can be logged into multiple instances of software at the same time.

What this means is that you need to lump some (or all) of the musicians together and use a single user for them. You can still block access to certain things, but you will need to allow them access to all of the appropriate aux busses/mixes instead of assigning a single aux buss to each user. Each musician will then need to select the appropriate aux mix they are using when they open the MySQ software (if they click on the current aux buss, it will allow them to select other aux busses). This is easily accomplished, but invariably someone will forget to do this, or accidentally select the wrong aux buss and then be confused when their “changes” don’t affect what they are hearing. Furthermore, it is likely that the musician who’s aux buss they are controlling is just as confused because things are changing in their IEM mix without any interaction on their part.

Thanks.

Now to set up some users (and no doubt upset a few…)

Of course, what A&H want you to do is to give all the band members ME-1 personal mixers !
