Just wondering if there is a serial number starting point where the AB168 needs to use the latest QU mixer firmware.
Trying to do some pre trouble shooting on a system.
I can’t quite interpret your question …
As far as I know, an AB168 always automatically adapts to the console in use and the firmware used there – even older ones.
They call it “automatic firmware matching”.
Do you think there may have been earlier AB168 devices where this wasn’t/isn’t the case?
About 3 years ago…ish there was a chip set change in production that requires in the QU series the mixer to be running at least firmware 1.97 to be able to connect to on the newer production stage boxes and in the SQ series firmware 1.5.5.
Just was wondering in this case if you can tell by the serial number range on the stage box if it requires the latest firmware to operate and connect to the mixer.
Up on connecting a stage box to the mixer it pulls the firmware it needs from the mixer.
An older pre chip set change mixer would need the later firmware to connect to a newer stage box.
Oh, of course I didn’t know about such a technical change.
If I were you, I’d direct this very specific question to A&H.
