Hello, i’m now a user of the rcf TTL series and i want to use the RDnet,
the serial data is on pins 7&8 and 4&5 are ground, this pins are not used in ACE but is it possible to send both protocols on one cable?
Thanks, Dirk

Hi Dirk,
RDNet is based on RS-485. I wouldn’t personally mix this with Ethernet on the same Cat5, as it would be difficult to guarantee system performance and EMC requirements. I’d rather look for a multi Cat cable. Or if there is any Ethernet adapter for RDNet, you could tunnel the data on the ACE link e.g. laptop connected to the Surface, RDNet adapter connected to the MixRack.
Hope this helps.
There are RS232/485 to ethernet convertors out there. I’m using one from Lantronic for my Powersoft amps.

Thanks, i gonna try these modules Q14870-2 USR-TCP232-304 for tunneling the 485 signal.
