I’d like to suggest adding more ways to trigger actions. I realize this could be a programmer’s nightmare, but as a user here are some ways I would love to use it!
Currently actions can be recalled by soft key or in the actions tab (am I missing any?). Soft keys run out FAST. And who wants to change screens, it defeats the purpose of a quick-action. So…
Many of these would benefit from an AND/OR option as well, especially where you want the action to trigger if any of a set of channels meet the criteria.
Possible action triggers:
- VSC state (e.g. when in VSC playback mode, also change these other channels to source A/B/C/or D; set desk light to purple; set LR fader to -Inf; enable SIP; etc.)
- When a given fader is above or below X dB
- When a given mute is muted
- When a channel’s signal falls below a threshold (for redundant backups or automatic Waves Dump action!)
- When TB is on (e.g. flash desk lights relentlessly)
- When a given channel is selected (could be useful for syncing Waves UI screen via midi)
- On a given scene’s recall, or on a range of scenes’ recall
- Other?
I repeat what I have written some days ago.
There is already a feature request thread regarding actions.
It would be better to stick to one thread.
@Keith would it be possible to merge these?
Where is this thread then?
That’s an unhelpful link, as I did search the forums for all instances of Actions and found nothing relating to TRIGGERING actions. I’m not requesting new Actions, but TRIGGERS for actions. If there’s a thread that I’ve missed related to that aspect please by all means combine, but from what I can tell this is the first request for adding options to trigger actions automatically from a given circumstance.
I’ve been thinking about this recently too! It would be nice if the dLive had an “Events” system, where specific events on the console triggered specific actions. It would really level up the automation capabilities of the desk.
Changing your mix target could be another event. For instance, when mix “a” is targeted, change to talk back group “a”.
And I’ll just add that I don’t think I’ve seen this particular request before.

Totally agree—more flexible trigger options would be a game changer. Especially love the idea of VSC-based actions and signal-threshold triggers. AND/OR logic would unlock so much automation potential too. This could massively streamline live workflows and backups. Hoping devs take note, this is smart and super practical stuff!
