Actions and functions

I have (as many will) assigned all my monitor mix busses to individual soft keys

When I hit a key it puts the bus in mix mode and all the contributing channel faders come in the correct position.

Problem - my monitor mix bus faders are on the right fader bank top layer, but all my DCAs for mixing to the PA are under it, so frequently the monitor layer is “not visible”

I would like to have an Action in an Allen and Heath S5000 mixer that

1. Is assigned to soft key number 13

2. sets mono aux number 1 in MIX mode

3. selects and show the top layer at the right most fader bank - C1

4. when I release the soft key, that is, hit it again, it shall select the master mix bus and select/return to the layer with the DCA’s, C2

Can anyone please give step by step guide of how to make it

I struggle to find relevant commands.

How many monitor mixes do you wish to handle? Our console has soft keys for the channel rotaries and we have assigned 3 of our monitor mixes there. That lets you mix a monitor with the rotary atop the channel strip while the faders on the desk remain as they would for everything else. Have you looked at that for your most important monitor mixes.

Good point Billintn, we have 6 mixes, so that is a bit too much for your method

I forgot about this and had to be at the desk to remember. There are soft keys for the channels rotaries you can link to a mix and 4 of those (S7000), BUT… there is also a SENDS key for the rotaries. When you put the rotaries in ‘SENDS’ mode then push ANY mix button, the faders stay linked to the Mains but the rotary mixes the aux or matrix, etc and of course it’s Mix stays bright. I haven’t really used this much but with this you can jump to any output other than the main and mix it with the rotary quickly. It’s a great way to have two people using the desk for two different mixes.

Used the method you suggested, it was an improvement.

Although I still would like to learn more about «actions» and se if that has an application here

Happy new year!
