Add an IP6 and IP8 "Link Mode" to a Surface/Director

Since there is no specific forum for IP devices, I figured this was the best place to add this request.

We all know that currently the IP devices act as separate devices in the A&H universe. This means that pressing a button on another device (like a Surface or DLive Director instance) doesn’t affect the IP device or vice versa. For example, if you press the “Select” button on an IP8 device, it does not change the “currently selected” channel/buss on the Surface. Likewise, pressing a “Mix” button on the Surface does not change the faders on the IP8 device to reflect the send levels of the mix selected on the Surface.

I would like to see a new option added to the IP device’s set up - a “link” option where you could enter the IP address of a single Surface/Director instance and have the IP device “linked” to that Surface so that this currently missing connection/functionality would work between the two devices.

There are certainly times when you would want the IP devices to remain an independant device (ie keeping the current work flow). But by allowing the IP devices to operate as a direct extension of a Surface/Director instance, it opens up a whole new world when it comes to work flow and flexibility. By adding a “link” option, you would give people the best of both worlds by allowing them to choose how they want the devices to operate (or not operate) together. Honestly it would take the IP devices “to the next level” as far as usability and they would become far more useable IMHO and therefore more likely to be purchased.

That sounds pretty useful, although I have never use DLive, just every other A&H digital system for the last 20 years, I do use IP devices with AHM installs.
