Looking for the ability to have multiple playback “devices” to provide custom playback in multiple spaces. We use the AHM to cover multiple venues and need separate playback channels for each.
What exactly is the question/feature request? The situation you have described is exactly what AHM is designed to do already. It can certainly take multiple sources and then output those sources to multiple destinations - in any combination you desire.
1 source to 10 different destinations, 10 different sources to 10 different destinations, 10 sources to 1 destination, etc, etc, etc.
PS - I made up the “10s” in that example. It is not intended to represent the actual I/O capacity of the various AHM systems.
I guess he means internal playback slots.
There are only two mono or one stereo sources available.
Like the build in storage/playback for pre-canned announcements, etc?
I have never used an AHM to know for sure, but I’m pretty sure you can program those to go out to different zones. With only one source available, you obviously can’t play 10 different announcements going to 10 different zones at the exact same time, but you should be able to program the system to play one announcement in a zone, and then immediately play different announcement in a second zone, etc, etc, etc. This means you can have 10 announcements going out to 10 different zones as long as they play one at a time.
If you want the same announcement going to multiple zones at the same time (an emergency announcement going out to all zones for example), that is possible because you can use 1 source to go out to multiple zones.
At least that is the way I understand it. I could be completely wrong however.
We have multiple venues that I need to playback announcement tracks to and different players would accomplish that and not have audio playing in the other spaces. I see with 2 mono channels I can accomplish that in 2 spaces but need additional channels for the other spaces.
But as Brian suggested, you can switch presets with buttons and those play different tracks in different zones.
I watched the Custom Control 1.5 webinar on Youtube yesterday and there was a user question about adding more playback instances in AHM. Sam said the request was very high on A&H roadmap and they were definitely looking at what it would take to make this happen.
Obviously that is not a guarantee that they will be able to accommodate this request, nor is there a time frame associated with the potential feature request, but at least A&H is looking into the possibility of adding more playback instances.
