I am playing a 48K 24bit WAV, 19 min long, 315MB. Occasionally I get a stuttering sound for a second, like a buffer is repeated a few times, and then normal playing resumes.
Is there a recommended format for lowest resource usage on the AHM?
16 bit?
96K (so no SRC required)?
MP3?
I’d be interested to reproduce this and investigate - would you be able to share the audio file that is causing the stuttering?
If you’re not able to share it publicly, please send it to support@allen-heath.com and put it for the attention of Mark.
Which AHM model are you finding this is happening on, and what firmware version?
Just an update for anyone else engaging with this ticket.
This is now logged as a bug and we’ll hopefully implement a fix in a future update.
The root cause (as discovered by the excellently helpful bsoundnz) is the NTP time sync triggering, so if you’re getting stutters in file playback, disable NTP for the time being.
