AHM64 as a mixer

Hi, trying to weigh the pros and cons of using an AHM64 with a stage box like DX-168 for a mixer vs just biting the $$ and spend an additional $6k for a CDM-32. I’m told the AHM64 ‘IS’ the mixer but I went through the videos for it and it seems like there is significant differences between the ADH54 and a standard dLive mixer of any size. As always money is a huge deal in this application but so is the ability to have operators who are fluent in dLive from one venue slide over to this one and be able to figure out whats going on.

Thanks

Jim

Hey Jamen,

There’s some pretty big differences between the AHM-64 and the CDM-32 - the AHM is an installation product and isn’t really meant to be used as a live mixer in the way that I think you’re describing. Whilst you can use external IP controllers like the IP8 to add faders, you can’t easily control compressors, gates and so on (you can control PEQ with Custom Control) and there’s no effects.
If you’ve got operators fluent in dLive, I would stick with a dLive. You could maybe bend an AHM64 to your will but I’m not sure it would work how you’d like.
