Hopefully a mixer that is compatible with the GLD-AR Racks!
I could imagine its a smaller mixer maybe with mountable Rack-Ears for 19" Cases.
If you study the Name “QU”… there could be a Q for quick/quality and the “U” for "personal (YOU)… like a Monitormixer…
i’m like a child on christmas morning… can’t wait to see whats in the gift box!
Other speculations?
Maybe it’s “just” a DAW Controller…

Dave
Looks great unless they’ve labelled the polarity switch as “phase”. [ ]
Is that a fixed bus config?
Chris
Given that it supports dSnake and ME do you think it might be possible to feed one of these from the expander port on an AR2412 for use as a monitor console?
Chris
I like your thinking Chris, certainly it looks as though it is compatible with the AR2412 etc.
The specs were translated by google translate so might not be 100%

That’s going to be one incredibly bulky flightcase for whats inside…
Chris
The case will be fine as with the spare space you could put your mic’s/Di’s/cables/ hard drive/ headphones etc in there as well!

is it possible to route all of the AR2412 Inputs to the QU16?
I know that there are just 16Prozess-Channels at QU16 but if i have 2 bands then you often have to share the Drum but most of the other channels are for a different mikrofon or DI-Box! Then it would be nice to leave the cables plugged into the Rack and use Channel 17-24 on the AR2412 for the 2.Band.
So it should be possible to safe the Input-Routing on a scene or at minimum in a show-preset?
next Question:
Is it possible to swop the Stereo Output-Channels (IEM-Channels) To Mono-Outputs? (Left XLR-Output mono if you set it up in the syste-menu) So you don’t need a Y-Cable!

So when do we get 18 channel multitrack to USB on the GLD?..
…an X32 can do it direct to DAW…

Musikmesse 2013: Allen & Heath reveals Qu-16 digital mixer
Compact mixer with iPad control
Press Release
MUSIKMESSE 2013 PRESS RELEASE: Allen & Heath will be unveiling Qu-16, a brand new compact digital mixer with a professional feature set and an entry-level price tag, packaged in a stylish 19" rack size.
Inheriting technology from the acclaimed GLD and iLive digital mixing systems, Qu-16 features total recall of settings (including 17 motorised faders and digitally controlled preamps), an intuitive Touchscreen, Qu-Drive integrated multi-track recorder, dSNAKE for remote I/O and personal monitoring, multi-channel USB streaming to Mac, Qu-Pad control app, and iLive’s renowned FX library to deliver class-leading audio quality.
Qu-16 features 16 mic/line inputs, 3 stereo inputs, 4 FX engines with dedicated stereo returns, 14 mixes (including LR, 10 aux mixes, plus 2 dedicated FX busses), 12 mix processing channels, patchable AES digital output with a further 2-channel ALT output, dedicated Talkback mic pre input, and 2-Track output.
The mixer is packed with massive processing capability. Five high speed dual core DSPs provide comprehensive channel and FX processing, with ample room for future processing updates and functionality. Five latest generation 200MHz super-efficient ARM core processors run in parallel to efficiently deliver startling performance, one to drive each of the Touchscreen and surface, the Qu Drive USB interface, USB streaming, Ethernet port, and the moving faders.
Qu-16 is equipped with a high resolution (800x480) full colour Touchscreen featuring the easy to drive ‘Touch Channel’ access to channel processing, the FX racks and all the setup and system management controls. In keeping with the iLive user interface, the SuperStrip provides control knobs for a selected channel’s key processing parameters, such as gain, HPF, parametric EQ, gate threshold, compressor threshold and pan.
Qu-Drive, the mixer’s integrated USB recorder, which works with an external USB drive, can record and playback multi-track and stereo audio .wav files. The USB interface can also be used to store scene and library data for archiving and later recall. If using the Qu-16 in the studio, there is also a USB audio streaming interface for record and playback to Mac DAW systems.
A&H’s proprietary dSNAKE low latency audio connection enables the mixer to connect over a single 120m Cat5 digital snake to a remote audio rack, such as the AR84 or AR2412, and is compatible with the ME personal mixing system.
Motorised faders provide total recall of mix levels giving the user full benefit from the scene recall system and ensuring the fader is always in the right position even when swapping between the 2 layers, which allows instant access to all channels and masters or the Graphic EQs. To customise the fader layout to suit certain applications, a third user definable layer is also available.
A free iPad app connects to the mixer via a Wi-Fi router plugged into the Ethernet control port and gives instant wireless control of the mixer’s key parameters and settings, enabling the user to tweak the PA, adjust the monitors on stage, and even mix the show from the audience.
Qu-16 also contains sixteen crystal clear AnaLOGIQ total recall pad-less preamps, optimised for transparency and low harmonic distortion. In keeping with the excellent audio quality the Qu-16 is equipped with many of the iLive pro touring series’ FX emulations, used by many engineers in place of top-end plug-ins and external FX units, including classic reverbs, gated reverbs, delays and modulators.
Glenn Rogers, MD of A&H, said: “The Qu-16 represents the best technology we could pack into a 19” unit to deliver all the benefits of professional digital mixers and I am very proud of the looks, performance, ease of use and sonic quality from this great new product. The R&D team has done a fantastic job."
Launching at Pro Light & Sound, Frankfurt, Qu-16 will be shipping in May, SRP: £1699 ex VAT.

I know!! Completely bummed out when I saw that. Surely we can get a firmware update for that… and fairly sharpish!
How you will manage all of the channels from AR2412 if you have only 2 layers(inputs+outputs channels on mixer), maybe it will patch inputs + outputs or with combination custom layer? I don’t see any aditional button for more layers?
Maybe in the future [ ].
Hey tomos… there is a custom layer already… don’t know which button you have to press (maybe 2x Channellayer) but there you can set-up your own channellist. I could imagine that you can just assign 16Mono Channels from the AR2412 nut you decide which one’s… (so for example Channel 1-8 and 16-24) Also heard about assign the stereo channels from the AR2412 so you have only 2inputs spare on the Rack.

We will see what A&H meant with this, we have to wait until May.[?]
I think that will be better to control all of channels on AR2412 or better AR2412+AR84. They need to inprove dsp for more mixes. Then is this mixer GLD in small format [8D][ ].
But it’s designed for small events, concerts,… with some extensions. [ ]
Read the brochure guys, it’s all in there on page 8!

dSnake Inputs: Remote source for CH1-16, ST1, ST2, ST3dSnake Outputs: Remote outputs for Mix1-10, LR
</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>That means that with all sources and sinks set to remote, you can fill up an AR2412 bar two input channels.
Any info on whether the dsnake or monitor port can be used as a split from a GLD? This would make them a killer combo.
