Happy user of DLive here. Had our DM32 and S3000 combo for the better part of a decade and the surface is starting to show it’s age.
Just wondering if an eventual refresh of the line’s surfaces is planned for the future?
The hardware features i would like the most to have “now” would be bigger and higher resolution screens. Ability to attach external touchscreens. More compact layout (S3000 is enormous for such a low number of faders). Channel strip screens with much higher resolution to fit more characters and information.
The processing / audio Quality is still excellent, no need to change or update anything… it’s just the physical surfaces, they are getting oldish IMHO.
Opinions?
There are the C series surfaces already available.
That is already possible. With limitations but possible.
I believe it will not happen in the near future. I guess the teams working on the next SQ update now. They need to get the SQ Rack to the market in the near future.
Bigger screens would be nice and more resolution on the small LCD screens would definitely be a huge upgrade!
That being said, I doubt A&H spends the time and money to retool their entire manufacturing process when the existing Surfaces are pretty decent. Really outside of these two items, the current offerings have really stood the test of time IMHO.
The C series is ofc an option, but GigaACE redundancy is non negotiable for me.
Also, unless using a touchscreen PC running director, how on earth do you connected a touchscreen to an S3000? Tried multiple vendors and resolutions but none seem to work correctly.
1024x768 is mandatory.
Yeah, I tried it with a screen with that specific resolution, but the touch pointer is inverted (up is down, right is left). On pc i can install the Elo drivers and everything works as intended.
Internally, the Avantis software is Surface + Mixrack just all under one processor. How about an Avantis/Solo firmware load that makes it a dLive surface?
