AR2412 not linking with SQ6

Issue:
Suddenly my AR2412 will no longer connect to my SQ6 over dSnake. The board and stage box are both new, purchased within the last 6 months.

Status:

  • AR2412 powers up, fan is operational, and rear panel power indicator light is lit.
  • AR2412 Link/Err indicator light shows nothing (no red update, no blinking yellow, nothing).
  • The I/O page on the SQ6 shows the dSnake status as “Not Connected.”

Fixes attempted:

  • SQ6 firmware has been updated to V1.6.1. All mixer functions seem to be working appropriately, yet no link made between stage box and mixer.
  • Power cycled both the stage box and mixer several times, no link made.
  • Tested the CAT5 cable running between both with a cable tester - cable tests as functional, no link made.
  • Tested and used the backup CAT5 we ran during install (for instances like these) - cable tests as functional, no link made.

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

If these devices have been left connected (even if powered off) and there were some recent electrical storms nearby, it is very likely that the cable transmitted voltage through the wire and damaged the network port on the AR box.

The only other test I would attempt is to physically move the AR box next to the console and connect it with a third, short network cable. If there is no change in the situation, then I would contact A&H support and/or your local dealer about getting a warranty claim started.

You’ve checked the cable, but what about the sockets?
Even here in the forum, there were reports of bent contacts in network sockets as the cause of connection problems.
