We recently purchased a Qu-5D for our building, but we’re experiencing issues with the ST1 and ST2 channels.
Our Qu-5D is currently running firmware version V1.1.0. As you know, the Qu-5D has three stereo inputs (ST1, ST2, and USB), which are not patchable and are always assigned to their respective channels. However, we’ve been unable to get ST1 and ST2 working properly.
ST1 is receiving input from the talkback mic instead of the local input.
ST2 is not receiving any signal at all.
Audio signals connected to the ST1 or ST2 sockets are not passing through to their respective channels, even with the gain set to maximum.
I’ve tested the cables and confirmed they are fully functional.
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Can you confirm what external devices you have hooked up to your trs input sockets?
As you say there is no way that you can patch or assign another input into the ST1 / 2 or USB. How are you “seeing” the talkback level come into your ST1/2 Channel path? Only reason I ask is if for example you are PAFL’ing a Mix which has both Talkback plus an ST1 or ST2 included then you may be hearing the blend of the two but actually the talkback isn’t coming from those ST1 or ST2 channels at all. I get that this doesn’t answer your query around not getting any signal in through the ST1 or ST2 input local TRS sockets.
I don’t have the Dante version so not sure if there is some additional routing that you are doing which can allow the above to happen.
Thank you for the reply. I’ve attached some photos to help clarify.
We are using 3.5mm TRS to dual TS stereo cables for ST1 and ST2. Our setup is:
ST1 for PC audio
ST2 for other devices (e.g., iPad)
We’ve tested playback from both PC and iPad, and confirmed that their outputs are functional and not muted.
In the first photo (ST1), the source shows as “talkbk”, and it does receive signal when speaking into the talkback mic on the Qu-5D.
In the second photo (ST2), the source shows as “local 3/4”. We tested by connecting a mic to the XLR input, and indeed, local inputs 3/4 were routed to ST2.
Could you let me know if there’s a solution to this, or if it may be a bug that requires submitting a ticket to A&H?
So I can only imagine that this is a Dante thing as my QU-5 defaults the Source to ST1 and ST2 and there is no way to select another source from the Processing screen of the channel or via the I/O. See pics attached. The I/O screen only goes up to Ip32. I have also noticed I don’t have any Pre-Amp gain options on my ST1 and ST2 which is correct as they are not going through any pre-amps. But yours does.
Are you able to select a source yourself in the Processing screen and does the ST1 and ST2 show up in your I/O matrix Input screen?
