Avantis de-esser input and output gain

The de-esser on the Avantis could reall do with an input and output gain. If it’s run over a group I find it difficult to get enough level going in to make the effect trigger. In respect to that an option to turn up the input and turn down the output ( like a comp has ) would be great.

It sounds as though the levels within your groups are way to low!

Yeah I get the group levels are a little low. Sure, I can turn it all up. Small venue, vox on a DCA, initial gain structure is good etc etc.

I would still like this feature to gain the de-esser input when it’s on a buss though.

I agree.
I run them on channels, not groups and the dials are always set to full throttle.
My levels really aren’t all that conservative either. Just avoiding peak lights when possible.
I’ve heard you should run A&Hs hot, but hey… those deessers could do with a lower threshold or a hotter input and compensated output.

You might try assigning your group to the DCA, rather than individual channels. Then you can not only push the channels how you need, but also won’t be impacting the de-esser when you move that DCA fader.
