Avantis Drive Lines

Hey,

I have a tour coming in with their own console.
We have the Avantis running Dante to the Drive Racks. In the Avantis we have 6 matrix sends ( Left, Centre, Right, Sub, Fill and Delay)

All lines running to the Amps/ Stage are digital no analogue drive lines.

I’m wondering from the Avantis what is the best way to send the Tours Console to the Drive Rack without using a channel stripe?

Should I use the Source Select in the matrix sends to assign the local input of the Avantis (That has the tour outputs)? Or is there a better way…

Thanks for your help in advance.

In your post, the fact that you want to continue to use the Matrixes as already set up will require that you use busses. Of course you do not actually need to place those busses on the fader bank layout, but you will still be burning 5 busses. If you set it up like this, then yes the source of your matrix will simply be the input of the appropriate feed from the touring console. That may be a local input on the Avantis, or a Dante patch, etc, etc, etc. So to answer the question that you asked, no you do not need to place the Matrix faders on the Avantis fader banks, but yes you will still need to use the appropriate number of busses and will still have the Matrix processing power at your disposal (eq, compression, etc) if you set it up like this.

However you can also route the inputs from the tour console directly to the Drive Racks using tie lines. This means your matrixes won’t be used for this purpose at all. In fact, setting it up this way means NO Avantis processing will be used on this audio. The Avantis will simply take the source of the tour console (this can still be local inputs on the Avantis) and route them directly to the appropriate Dante outputs. You will set this routing up using the normal I/O routing page, but use the “tielines” tab. Again, setting it up like this means no processing (eq, compression, etc) will be available on the Avantis for this audio.

Hey Brian,

Thanks for your help on this. I might have worded my post in the wrong way… but I like the Timeline Idea I thought this was going to be the option. I always double-guess myself lol

With the Local inputs (1,2,3,4 for example) Patched in the TieLine to the Dante sending to the processor, I assume its sending pre-gain?

Also is there a way to also send the Avantis Matrixes as well. This was only to just take over the PA After the show for BG Music and Announcements. (I have a feeling it’s not possible… double-guess myself again) I will just switch scenes after the set, but just wanted to ask.

Thanks Again for your help.
