Avantis gain sharing

Hello guys, I’m trying to figure out if two avantis solo can gain track.
monitor avantis is equipped with gigace card connected to the stageboxes (gx4816, dx168) and to FOH’s avantis Slink port the FOH console will be able to compensate with trim (gain tracking) automatically to any pre-amp gain changes been made by the monitor console like the digico consoles do??

The Avantis does not have the ability to automatically gain compensate when two or more systems are connected together. The DLive has this ability, but that is the only currently offered A&H system that does.

Obviously both systems will have digital trim adjustments and it’s standard practice to only adjust the trim setting on linked consoles once the preamp gain has been properly set. By adjusting the digital trim setting, you are only affecting that console’s gain structure. Local digital trim will not affect any of the linked console’s gain structure.

Wish advice could get that

Honestly I think automatic gain compensation sounds better on paper than it does in actual use. Even if I had the ability to use automatic gain compensation, I would never turn it on.

Personally I would never want someone else changing the gain structure of my inputs and vice versa. I understand that the system is designed to use the digital trim functionality to try to make this as seamless as possible for the other user, but you cannot tell me that it’s perfect every time and that it has ZERO affect on the sound. Digital trim is not the same as the physical analog preamp circuitry and it does not sound exactly the same.

If someone else wants to change the gain structure on their “shared” sources, they should use digital trim or have a conversation with me about changing the preamp gain overall to something that is satisfactory to everyone. Likewise, if I need to change the gain structure of a “shared input”, I should only work under those two options too. By not having automatic gain compensation, these are simply the only options.
