New Allen & Heath user here, and I’m having trouble connecting my IEMs to the FOH Console (Avantis). I am using (2) Shure PSM900s and (4) Sennheiser EW300 G3s.
I scanned the receivers for the proper frequencies, and synced the packs to the transmitters no problem (or so I thought). But now the only IEM that is talking to my board is IEM 1 (which is only one of my EW300 G3s). I am mixing FOH and monitors from the same board, and I’m trying to track down if the issue is in my stage box or a simple fix in the board that I can’t find.
Since I’m in a mobile setup, my “stage box” is right next to the console, and I am running the XLR’s out of the back of the console straight into the transmitters. All four of my Sennheisers are going into an antenna connecter and I’m confused as to why one of my Sennheisers work just fine for ears, but all my other IEMs don’t.
Curious if anyone has run into a similar problem when setting up IEMs on the Avantis. Would love some help whenever you get the chance!
I would advise you to first try to narrow down the problem by simply swapping IEM 1 and 2 at your console.
If your IEM1 now works on 2nd output, then the problem is within the IEM2 wireless system.
If IEM2 now works on 1st output instead, then your 2nd output is not patched correctly or the mix set for it is unusable.
Unfortunately, you don’t want to do the test of swapping the outputs in order to rule out a problem with the obviously newly configured in-ear devices.
Your picture is also not helpful because it doesn’t say anything about the console’s patch, as Jeff and SteffenR requested.
There is a 99.8% chance this issue comes down to a routing issue. The IEM busses are probably not actually being send to the correct physical XLR outputs on the stage box. Triple check the Avantis I/O routing page! Don’t assume it is correct, actually make sure it is correct.
