We’re pleased to announce that Avantis’ MixPad and OneMix are now available for download.
MixPad
Avantis MixPad is an engineer’s mixing tool providing wireless mobile control for Allen & Heath Avantis digital mixers. It gives you the freedom to walk the room or stage and control the sound right where it is needed.
OneMix
OneMix is a cut down version of the Avantis MixPad app that locks control to a single Aux (monitor) mix. Multiple iPads may be set up by the ‘Admin’ user to give each musician customised personal monitor control via Wi-Fi connection to Avantis without the risk of affecting the other monitors or FOH main mix.
I downloaded the app and tried it offline. It’s basically the same app as for the dLive, just with different colors.
Please forgive my criticism, but I think the SQ app is much more advanced.
In the dLive app, and now also in the app for Avantis, for example, there is no way to copy settings from one mix channel to another. When setting up monitor paths, you shouldn’t have to start from scratch every time you need to set up a monitor path, especially if you have to use unknown monitors.
That’s why I haven’t used the dLive app for a long time and bought a tablet for this purpose on which I can run the Director software.
In my opinion it would have been better to use the basis of the SQ app. I really hope that this will be changed.
And then please also change it for the dLive

Criticism accepted. Porting the existing dLive apps was the quickest route to market. Qu and SQ use a fundamentally different language and control protocol, therefore a multi-platform app and phone compatibility for Avantis would have required a much longer development path.
Also bear in mind that Avantis will get a fully-featured Mac / Win offline / online editor later this year. Qu and SQ don’t have one hence the need for more comprehensive apps.
Right then. The CSPO in me is yelling the following user epics;
UE-1 As an Avantis user/sound engineer I can copy channel strips, buss’ and all other settings from one mix to any channel on another using either the offline editor or on the console itself so that I don’t have to setup scene elements from scratch that exist in other scenes.
UE-2 As an Avantis user/sound engineer I will be able to use an android lollipop based tablet to run the offline editor so that I don’t need to spend $700 on the latest greatest tablet to get the job done.
UE-3 As an A&H software engineer, I will be able to use a compile switch that allows me to choose to compile my app directly to iOS or Android OS.
Any update on the app? We are loving our Avantis(es) (what’s the plural of Avantis? Avantis?) But I hate setting up iPads for all of my band members each time.
Allen and Heath must have fired all their software engineers. The online/offline editor has been talked about and “promised” for the last 15 months. It’s always “coming soon”. It’s a total joke at this point. I’d love to recommend the Avantis to everyone, but the lack of support from A&H speaks volumes to their commitment to the line. THERE IS NO SUPPORT FOR THE AVANTIS.
I’m beginning to wonder how much we can sell our Avantis for.
Our understanding of the One Mix, is that if we enable the PEQ, the IEM iPad should be able to adjust that particular channel in their In Ears however we are finding that it’s controlling the board eq, compression etc.
So are we missing something in setup or is the One Mix strictly for controlling volume and the eq of the actual Aux Send IEM and not the individual channels?
Channel processing on OneMix controls channel processing on the Avantis mixer.
For channels that need independent processing for FoH and Monitors, it is typical to ‘split’ these channels in the mixer, so for example, a duplicate channel for the main vocal would let you separate the processing for monitor purposes. You can split as many channels as you like as long as you have spare channels, so if you only have say 32 inputs, you can use 33-64 as monitor channels.
In OneMix, you can enable/disable access to processing for each layer. My suggestion would be to enable processing for split channels only, and keep these in the ‘My Mix’ top layer, while all other channels sit in the other layers with no processing enabled.
