Our Avantis just muted everything during a scene recall. I had just stored the scenes minutes before. I understand it during SHOW recall. But the scene memory has a different purpose. Fortunately I knew to just recall my show. However, 20 seconds of dead air. Not fun. Just want to know why it happened, if anyone knows. Thanks a billion!!!
You are correct that there are no “audio breaking” settings in the scenes like there are in the show file. Therefore, you console was not reprogramming the audio chip which is what causes the audio to stop temporarily when you load a show file.
I would normally say that the most logical explanation is that the scene that was recalled was accidentally saved with that audio muted. This is pretty easy to do when you overwrite scenes regularly. People get in the habit of overwriting the scene at a certain point (usually in rehearsal) that their muscle memory kicks in and the save the scene like normal - forgetting that because “X” had happened earlier, they muted something that normally isn’t muted. When the scene was recalled, it simply muted the audio on those channels/busses “unexpectedly” because every other time the scene was saved without the audio muted.
Of course because you had recently saved the scenes, hopefully you can think back and determine if this was the case or not. If there is ZERO chance that you saved the scenes with the audio muted, then obviously there is something else going on here. I haven’t heard of similar problems being reported, so I would chalk it up to a weird glitch that is going to be extremely rare to run across. I think the odds of it happening again are pretty low. If it does, then I think there is likely an intermittent hardware issue affecting your console.
