Hi all
I’m looking at building a playback rig for FOHand had an enquiry.Im using a dante 64x64 on my avantis and I know it’s possible for me to patch qlab over dante to the desk inputs but is it possible on the same mac machine running the stems to record all the inputs on the console in traxlive or do i need another dante machine? so id be using for example inputs 24-48 for qlab stems but want to record 1-48 in trax live.
Is trax live reliable / does anyone recommend anything else?
Thanks Jack
The QLab stems are simply being sent to the console, correct? If so, they would be using the console’s Dante card inputs (24-48 in your example).
The mutlitrack channels would be sent OUT of the console using the consol’e Dante card outputs (1-48 in your example).
It is completely normal to have both inputs and outputs being routed through the same audio interface (the console’s Dante card in this example).
As noted in a different post of yours, I have used two different programs on the same computer (LiveProfessor for Plugin processing and Reaper for multitrack recording) at the same time. Both programs were using the Dante interface to send/receive the audio. As such, I don’t think you will need to break out the two systems (Qlab and TraxLive) to two different computers unless there is some underlying compatibility issue. However “on paper” it should work just fine IMHO.
