Outstanding!

That being said: I can’t see the increased channel/buss count in Avantis Director (Mac OS). The other features (CompStortion et al) are available, accompanied with the normal ā€˜may not be activated on your console’ disclaimer, but nothing I’ve tried so far has given me the additional channels in IO or console setup.

Not in front of my Solo to test for a couple of days, but does Director need to be connected to an upgraded console to see the additional channel count?

Offline you need to set the dPack to visible.

Thanks Steffen. Didn’t spot that new option and it absolutely did the trick. It’s an odd choice to have all the dPack models and UFX processing available without that being selected and yet not have the channel count! Sure it makes sense on a level that I haven’t understood

The Director software may act similarly to the physical console where all of the dPack plugins, etc show up visually (to ā€œmarketā€ those items to people that haven’t upgraded to dPack yet), but are unavailable for actual processing unless there is an active license installed on the hardware. In that case, I might understand a situation were the extra channels/busses don’t show up visually with an inactive license because there isn’t really anything visually appealing to ā€œmarketā€.

Selecting that option that Steffen referenced is the equivalent of the license activation on the physical console when ā€œofflineā€ in the Director software.

I’m noticing that the console overall is much smoother and faster to get around on. DYN8 frame rate is much better and doesn’t lag the console anymore which is awesome. Some nice little font and display improvements as well all around the Avantis.

Great job A&H!

Sad to see that Avantis director still has not received any fixes for its lack of 4k High DPI support (Makes it unusable on High resolution displays) or any of the quality of life fixes that dLive Director has (Right click to direct enter number values)

I was, however, most pleased to see that the I/O page displays properly on my Mac. That cleared up a problem that was a real nuisance.

It is working on my 3440x1440 pixel display.
Maybe you should describe your system configuration?

3440x 1440 isn’t 4k though.
It’s UWQHD which is a lower resolution.

But it’s high resolution. So it is usable on high resolution displays.

I was referencing this though which seemed more specific:

But it’s useless without the system specs. It is not even mentioned if it is on Mac or Win…

It can happen on both platforms, UI Element scaling goes wobblier and wobblier as vertical resolution goes up. My above example was 3840x2160 on Win11 but I’ve seen it on Mac as well. The I/O page used to be comically misaligned as well but seems a bit better behaved now.

Hello,

I can confirm this odd behaviour on a Windows 10 Corporate setup with:

  • Nvidia 595.79 NSD DCH WHQL for RTX 2080 Super
  • Desktop resolution 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz
  • LG HDR 4K over Displayport and/or
  • Dell U2718Q
  • Text Scaling 125%

As soon as I have some free time, I’ll try it on the Mac Studio too.

That’s old news, though—I’ve never known it any other way, which is why I’ve always only used this screen on the console itself.

Best regards,

HP
