Being able to switch main encoder to any soft rotary

I was recently told by a tour coming through our house of another house with an SQ series mixer with a faulty encoder and i instantly asked why not switch the encoder in the soft rotary assign tab.
I was surprised to learn and not see an option for this as a soft rotary assignment, as this one rotary is mission critical and if it goes down the only option is the app.
This should be an important upgrade feature - Not that I have heard about this happening often, but on tour it could be a serious issue.

I think all rotary encoders are hard coded to their respective functions, the only one that could be assignable is the touch & turn one. A&H probably won’t do this, you will likely have to use a tablet or desktop app.

As someone whose Main faders are always at zero, I fail to see them as mission critical. You can also put the main fader in any channel fader position on any page.

The four rotaries on SQ6 and 7 are programmable.

Perhaps it could be phrased slightly differently for better clarity:
The OP wants to be able to assign the so-called “Touchscreen Rotary” to one of the “Soft Rotaries” (of the SQ-6, -7, or -Rack).
This isn’t currently possible, but it’s a very understandable suggestion to have redundancy in case of failure with this most frequently used and therefore also most vulnerable encoder.
