Beware Rogue Amoeba’’s SoundSource app

All,
I wanted to share an item I spent several days trouble shooting. I was interested in sending audio from particular applications on my Mac to different inputs on my CQ-18. I attempted to use Audio Hijack for the purpose. And while I could get the CQ to send audio from the correct inputs to the Mac, it would only output to channels 1 and 2. Attempting the same in Logic Pro yielded the same results. I discovered running SoundSource at the same time caused Logic and Audio Hijack to disregard the set output device. Just a PSA for the community!

If connecting via USB for multi channel record and playback be aware that the Audio over USB cannot send and receive of the same channel simultaneously.

So when sending USB signals back from you DAW on the USB channel if you receive to your DAW on 21 and 22 the default from DAW to CQ would then be channels 1 and 2. This would be the case if you use the CQ as a multi channel audio USB interface

Hijack does some processing around the internal core audio routing on a mac so you may have its defaults as a computer without a multi channel audio interface only has channels 1 and 2 for input and output.

Do you really need Hijack with a multi channel audio interface?

Cheers
David
