Bluetooth not working with Denon Prime4+

Hello,

I have a brand new Denon Prime4+ (a DJ console with Bluetooth capabilities), but unfortunately, it cannot detect the CQ-18T as a Bluetooth output, although it works very well with any smartphone.

Is there an “official list of supported devices” or anything like that?

I’m a little disappointed because the Bluetooth was one of the reasons I purchased the mixer.

Thanks for your help,

Cyril.

Just to make sure I understand you correctly:
You write about the “CQ-18T as a Bluetooth output” (which the CQ doesn’t have), but you mean that you want to send the sound from your DJ console (with Bluetooth option) to your CQ - right?

The CQ’s Bluetooth connection is primarily designed for connecting mobile devices in a live environment, so as long as your Denon Prime4+ can communicate with a Bluetooth 4.1 device, there’s no particular reason why it wouldn’t connect.

There is going to be latency with a Bluetooth connection, and it’s subject to interference/radio crowding from any other nearby devices. I’m not sure why you’d want to do this over just running a cable between the two devices?

Thanks for your quick reply. In the Denon manual, it says “Bluetooth Version: 4.0, 4.2, 5.0”. The Prime 4+ has been released in 2023, and the Prime 4 in 2019. So maybe it’s the same Bluetooth component and it’s too old? It would be surprising but who knows…

I have an environment where avoiding a cable would be beneficial, but that’s not the question.

I’m not a DJ… but I did a quick bit of googling on this controller, and people say the bluetooth on it is unusable. even if it does connect, there’s several seconds worth of latency… My guess is the issue isn’t the CQ.

If you need wireless between the 2, I’d look at using a stereo IEM instead.

Seconds of latency (it’s a lot, I agree!) don’t matter when playing background music.

But if Bluetooth is badly implemented on the Denon, it’s a real pity. I wish the CQ could detect the unit. Anyway, I think I will live without it or use a stereo IEM. Thanks for the advice.
