The problem is, that they are highly overpriced and hardly anyone uses them I think. That leads to no dovelopement, which leads to no customers again. Also personal monitoring works great on Mixing Station, which cost almost zero.
You can’t really compare the two, because Mixing Station is just a remote control, while ME (e.g., -1) is practically a separate mixer.
In your dLive world with its many mix buses and remote connections, the difference might not be very noticeable, but with, for example, an SQ, you can quickly reach the limits of the monitor mix buses for more complex tasks.
So this gives you also with such consoles the option of providing very individual monitoring for many musicians.
But it’s a great system when you need a reliable and always identical monitoring setup on fixed stage positions. It depends on the situation if it is of any use. It’s definitely not the system for the average cover band.
Actually there is no official app for dLive that does monitoring well. MixPad has no aux limitation and 4You has a limit of 48 channels and you cannot assign auxes to users. You have to manually go to every users tab/mobile and log in as admin, assign an aux and login as non admin. Practically unuseable.
Mixing Station in monitor mode, send a layout to all users, done. Feature whise Mixing Station crushes any stock app to pieces.
This isn’t really related to the “ME”, but why on earth wouldn’t anyone do it?
If you’d just look here around a little more, you’d find plenty of people who do this - and even very willingly.
I love Mixing Station because, in stark contrast to A&H applications, it can be customized down to the last detail to suit your personal preferences and, in particular, the size of your screens.
Another big advantage is that Mixing Station runs on every major platform.
And you can generally use your own custom interface across different mixers, even those from other manufacturers.
But as is often the case, though, you have to put in the work and familiarize yourself with the Mixing Station philosophy and “programming”.
Thinking you’re getting something ready-made is the wrong approach.
Thank you for bringing this up. I love the ME-1 system and use it a lot in both my day job and church; I find it to be an almost perfect solution for church musicians. That said, it would greatly benefit from some attention!
