Hi AH Forums,
I am planning on using AB168’s with a dLive C1500 / DM0 setup, I just want to check if this is possible, it seems SQ and QU desks are able to convert the outputs to 48khz while still operating at 96khz, I imagine this feature also exists on the flagship dLive system?
All input is appreciated!
Regards, Robin B
No, unfortunately that’s not possible.
The mixer must support dSnake and dLive does it not.

It’s solely dependent on which ports and protocols each console supports. The “SLink” port is not an audio protocol itself, but rather a multi-protocol port. What that means is that the SLink port will automatically switch between several different A&H audio protocols depending on what is plugged into it. This includes the ME, Dsnake, DX, and GigaAce protocols.
The older AB/AR stage boxes use the older DSnake audio protocol (which the SLink port supports). However the DLive system does not have an SLink port on it - only DX, ME and GigaAce ports. Unfortunately, none of those ports support the older DSnake protocol and there is no expansion card available for the DLive that supports it either.
You may ask why A&H doesn’t have the SLink port on the DLive, but has it on “lower” console lineups. Well I think the answer to that is the age of the DLive. The DLive was released in 2015 and I don’t think the SLink made it’s first appearance until the SQ series in 2017. In other words, the DLive was released before the SLink port was available.
Well, dSnake doesn’t necessarily require SLink.
The (wonderful) GLD was released back in 2012 and had a pure dSnake port.
