Can I have a fader controlling the PAFL bus output level on a QU-5/6/7?

Hello,
I want to use a Qu 7 for monitors on a live stage. I route the PAFL bus to a local output and I need a fader to control the level. Is it possible to do it?
I need to keep the use of the headphones.

Not really, as Qu does not have a Listen bus (like SQ) or IEM/Wedge outputs (like Avantis/dLive), meaning there is no output gain stage which a fader (or any other control) could adjust.

The only way to achieve this would be using an physical/analogue loopback and using up an input channel + direct output.

Hi @Keith - to follow on a similar theme to this…… If we had a FoH and Monitor desk set up with the new QU’s, and as a FoH mix engineer I wanted to be able to have my FoH and Mon Talkback mics always present in the PAFL bus whatever I was listening to….. is that possible on these? The block diagram suggests not but I was wondering if there was a similar routing workaround…..eg like below….:

PAFL L/R –> Local OUT 1/2 –> Local IN 15/16

Then

Local IN 15/16 + FoH TB Local Ip + Mon TB SLink Ip –> Stereo Group

Then

Stereo Group –> Local OUT 3/4 –> Stereo IEM or Wedge

My concern with the above is potential for overloading the PAFL Local IN 15/16 pre-amps by causing an infinite loop.

Any guidance here would be much appreciated. It might be that the answer is ‘No, use an SQ or higher’.

Thanks in advance
