Can you rename the FX channels on the CQ18T?

Not sure if this is possible but for example, you can rename the input channels so when you go to the Fader or Processing screens instead of seeing “Ip1” “Ip2”, etc, you see the name you gave it. In my case I have vocal channels named for the singer, instruments named for what they are, so instead of seeing Ip5 I see “Guitar”.

I’m wondering if I can do this for the FX units so for example, I can rename FX1 to show “Reverb”, FX2 to show “Doubler”, etc.

In the Processing screen it will show what FX unit is assigned to each FX channel but in the Fader screen it does not. It just shows FX1, FX2, FX3, FX4.

It would be nice to be able to name them so I don’t have to remember what effect is on what FX channel. It’s not a major issue, just an added convenience if it’s possible to do.

I’ve looked through the manual and gone through every screen I could find but didn’t see a way to do this.

Only via Mixing station.

I’m guessing that will only change the name inside Mixing Station but not on the mixer’s own screen?

If you are talking about the FxRet1, 2, 3, 4 you can indeed change these names with MixingStation, and the new name (1-Plate, 2-Delay etc) will show up on the CQ’s built-in screen.

Likewise, if you are talking about the “Sends to” from each channel, you can change the FxSend1 … name in MixingStation and it will show up on the CQ screen.

Of course, once you go that far, you might as well be using MixingStation for everything, because it is so powerful.

This need to be mention though.

Fortunately I wouldn’t be using any special characters. I just want to be able to see what effect I have assigned to each fx fader when I’m in the Fader screen. I would just use regular letters, “Reverb”, “Doubler”, “Echo”, etc..

Seems like a bit of a kludge though to have to use a 3rd party app. If it can be done by a 3rd party app, A&H should be able to add that functionality in their own app.

You can read and follow the thread of the quote above, all is explained.

We might be able to set this up from the mixer in a future firmware update.

For now being you have an alternative solution.

If A&H really intended for this to be a permanent restriction, then it would probably be a good idea to request that the Mixing Station author restrict the character set of these items, so that illegal strings are not entered indirectly from MS.

It is not intended.:
