Hi everyone,
I know A&H recommends shielded cabling, however I have run into an issue as my snake has not shown up yet and I need to use my GLD tomorrow.
I am wondering if anyone has used regular cat5e UTP between the GLD-80 and the AR2412?
If you have can you share how it went, and what length?
Does using UTP have the potential to cause any damage to either part of the system?
Thanks for your time, sorry if I’ve missed an obvious answer to these questions.

Here’s some feedback about cable - I know some users said they’d used regular cable in installation work
Cheers.

We used regular Cat5e UTP temporarily (75’) and it worked perfectly.
Its plain ethernet communication so there is nothing special needed. With that said though, shielding and the use of cat6 cable all allow for cleaner communications if you are in a high noise (EMI) area. Unlike analog though, it will take a lot to cause an issue.
i’m running a 75 meters cat5 unshielded cabledrum ( from thomann.de ) and it runs about fine.
sometimes a vew qos errors, but not noticable.
this drum was only € 80,- in stead of € 700,- for the A&H cable.
also tested with 100 meters, and also no audio-problems…
hopes this helps.
