Change order of channels in custom layer on CQ?

Hi -

trying to figure out best channel layout and how to make sure cable connections are simple at small band gigs. (4drum mics, 2 vox, guitar, bass)

out of the box, CQ has the channel order on screen defaults to pretty much the exact opposite of what I’m used to (i usually put vox first, drums last)… If I want to change it to how I’m used to it running, do i just have to basically re-create new channels over the default, or can i move the channes around? (for ex; Ch. 1 defaults to kick I think… if i want female vox first, do I just wipe the kick channel and make it a vocal ch, or can I move the default vox channel over somehow?

Am I better off not using one of the templates and just starting from scratch?

How do people keep track of which xlr in goes to which channel? do you rename the on screen channel to include the XLR input number? (for ex. “1 - Vox”)… I need to make this as ‘plug and play’ as possible for club gigs. On my old mackie DL16, i just put a sticky label on the xlr inputs, but that didn’t look great.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The layout as far as I know is industry standard basic layout, drums first, 1,Kick, 2 Snare, 3, HiHat etc, then instruments.
I still work in that format but never use any template. I always create from scratch on my CQ20 in whatever order or layout I see fit.
Only over riding option is direct instrument in as in 15 & 16 for say guitar input.
Im not a fan of any presets, but you create the layout, then each channel you can call up various presets at will.
