Channel 11 suddenly requires almost 50 db gain?

Purchased the CQ18T February of this year.

Absolutely love the mixer. It has served us very well.

Last night we played a show and during sound check I was sound checking one of our guitar players.

He uses a fender amp and he mikes it up with a Sennheiser mic built for guitars I guess.

I have a scene that I use that gives us a good baseline. His gain is typically 18 DB.

When he started playing, we noticed that I wasn’t getting a signal. Thought perhaps something was wrong with his rig so looked at the lines and everything seemed good.

Started turning up his gain and slowly slowly started getting a signal. I had to go to almost 50 DB to get a usable signal

That’s definitely not normal from past

Thought maybe it was the XLR cable so I switched him to another input which is my vocal mic. This was input one.

Immediately got a good clean signal at 22 DB of gain

Switched my vocal mic to input 11 and I had the same problem. No usable signal until I gained it to 50.

I then try to clean scene. I did a quick start with quick complete and same problem

Not quite sure what might be going on. I do get a signal, but it’s very faint and I have to gain it almost 50 to get a -10 DB-Ish signal.

Looking to find out any troubleshooting tips or what might be happening. I understand the software stuff well I’m a software engineer by trade. The internals and electronics are another world to me.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Not sure I correctly understand what input number was the mic IN.
You said input 1 ?
Was any of the Gain Assistant switched ON ?

Sorry let me clear that

Input 11 is the problem input

I have rarely used the auto gain feature

I actually tried the auto gain now with Input 11 and it just sits there listening but doesn’t adjust.

If I manually crank the gain to 50 db I get a useable signal but as you can imagine with a lot of noise along with it.

It’s only input 11. If I plug whatever is in Input 11 to Input 12 for example…everything is fine

Just trying to see if anyone has any insight. I purchased the CQ18T in Feb of this year through a Guitar Center rep who got me a slight discount.

Was brand new when purchased just trying to figure out if this is a symptom of a dead/dying input and what might cause it

Thanks for any help/insight anyone can give

You plug into XLRCQ18T input 9 to 16 are combo.
You confirm that you are plug into XLR ?
If yes, there is an issue with your input.

I‘ve had a similar issue with one input of my CQ18T (bought b-stock) right out of the box. I was getting a much lower signal from one input. I thought I would have to return it but first I tried a factory reset and that solved that problem. Make sure to save your scenes to a USB stick before trying that since otherwise the scenes would get cleared out by the factory reset.
