Channel Insert Grayed Out

On my SQ-7 the second Channel insert as well as the Operating Level is grayed out - in the manual it shows it active - I can’t figure out why this is - any help? I tried the various inserts to see if I can make active with no results.

Once things are routed correctly, the “IN” button (bottom right side of the page) will turn the insert routing on/off. It will turn green when it is active. It’s possible that you have routed everything, but not actually turned the insert “On/In”.

Switch your input to stereo as well, as in your own example.

Thank you - So it’s not active unless you have a stereo input?- We don’t use any stereo inputs at our church - except for video or music playback (ST2 and ST3). What about the digital processing piece?

BTW I’m not at the board - those were just pictures from the internet.

Yes, and it seems really logical to me that you can’t insert 2 channels into a single mono channel.

So what would you want to do with stereo in a mono channel?

What do you mean?

I thought it might be a second insert point - 2 inserts on a single channel would ocassionaly be handy.

I wouldn’t - I was just repeating the fact.

The Operating Level at the lower part of the screen - I wondered why it wasn’t active -

That’s not what it’s designed for.

The operating level of an insert can only be changed if it concerns external connections, for example, to adjust them depending on the connected external device (e.g., studio level or home electronics level).
In your example, however, the insert is unassigned at all, so the operating level can’t be changed.

You are using a mono channel. So only 1 insert send channel and 1 insert return channel is possible. This means you can insert a mono signal to any of the insert routing possibilities.

When you use a stereo processing channel, you have 2 insert send channels and 2 insert return channels available.
