We are currently setting up broadcast audio using Logic, we have our FOH Avantis sending the channels via Dante over to logic. Everything comes in just 1 channel off, if the board says it’s channel 50, it’s 51 in logic but the bigger issue is our FOH computer that has spotify comes into Logic on 37, 38, and channel 1 and 2. No matter what we do our 37 and 38 channels seem to be duplicated in logic to 1 and 2. If we plug something else into those inputs the same issue happens, however other channels work as they should. We’ve checked other devices to make sure Dante isn’t sending a feed to other places and coming back on those channels and it’s not. Currently our broadcast audio computer is the only one running Dante. Everything works fine except our spotify channels being duplicated in Logic which causes everything to be one off and there by is missing our track channel. Any thoughts to why this is happening? The fact that 2 channels are coming into logic on 4 channles is the biggest issue. We have looked through the routing of everything and it is all one to one. We’ve changed sample rates, we’ve restarted computers, we’ve made sure all it up to date. We are very lost and confused.
I bet it is not. It’s easy to overlook a shift by one channel.
Check your Dante routing and the Logic inputs again.
There are several points where you can patch something.
Avantis inputs, Avantis direct outs (or tie lines if that is used), the Dante network itself, the I/O of the Computer(Mac), the I/O of Logic.
What you mean with Spotify?
Is it from the computer? Or is it a different device?
And where is it connected? XLR inputs? Dante?
This is now very confusing. I’m not sure what you did.
Can you provide a schematic of the setup?
my bad, but spotify I meant our FOH computer that is connected locally to the board. The Dante routing we’ve looked at probably 20 times and it is all 1 to 1. If it’s channel 1 on the Avantis it’s channel one going to the mac mini via dante controller.
I can only post one image currently as I am a new user
That picture continues all the way to 64 with it all being one to one
Next point, Logic!
Is it 1:1 as well?
What do you use on the Avantis? Direct outs or tie lines?
it’s all 1:1 and no tie lines are being used. so would be direct outs over dante. None of it makes any sense. I’ve been talking to audiante as well and they can’t figure out why it’s doing what it’s doing
Can you post an image of your Avantis Dante routing and your logic routing as well?
As you know, there are many places where you have to route the audio through this audio chain and it only takes an error in one place to really mess things up. Your Dante Controller routing looks good, but we need to check the other routing as well.
Also, be sure your Logic software doesn’t have some built in default routing. I know with Reaper for example, all inputs are automatically assigned to outputs 1&2. If you are trying to use the software for multitrack/VSC playback, that routing must be manually removed from each and every track. Obviously that is not the exact problem you are facing, but it is simply an example of how you have to triple check everything!
