I just bought the Waves card for my SQ5 - I want to run some plug ins on my Mac Mini for live FOH.
As far as i understand I need a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter 10Gbs. I’ve seen people have previously recommended the OWC - but is that still the one to get? Or is there a better option? I guess that I can’t connect directly to the ethernet port on the mac mini?
Why the need for a 10gb ethernet adapter? The max speed of the Waves card is only 1gb.
Depending on what else you expect to do with the computer, I think you should be able to connect directly to it using the built in ethernet adapter. But I don’t use Apple products very often to know if there is some “gotcha” because it is running Mac OS. Just make sure you give the Waves software “permission” to use the ethernet and audio hardware.
