Connecting Avantis and SQ

Hi guys! i saw a similar topic but i want to know:

I have an Avantis as FOH, and GX4816. 1 Sound tech asked me if i could place the SQ7 for a band,

I dont know if i can make a digital split with avantis and sq7 both connected to the GX, withouth any cards.

I have a DX Hub also, but im not sure if it would work.

Does anyone knows about it ?

Really thanks!

You need at least one card.
The GX connects to the S-Link on both consoles, but not at the same time.
This blocks on one console the S-Link for splitting.

The DX-Hub doesn’t do anything in this context. It connects to S-Link or GigaACE and provides 4 lines of DX expansion ports.

As steffen said, you are going to need at least one expansion card because one of the consoles will need to be connected to both the stage box and the other console (which obviously requires two ports). Since both consoles only have one built in SLink port, and you’ll need two ports on one of the consoles, that console will need the expansion card.

The logical thing to do is to get an SLink card for the SQ. Since it is on stage, it makes sense to plug the GX4816 stage box into it which also means you’ll only need a single cable run from the stage to the FOH position. You’ll need an SQ Slink expansion card to have two SLink ports - one for the stage box and one for the Avantis. The bonus here is that the SLink card for the SQ is a LOT less expensive than the GigaAce card for the Avantis ($299 USD for the SQ SLink card vs $1799 USD for the Avantis GigaAce card). So it’s the cheapest solution, and the one that requires the least amount of cable runs between the stage and the FOH position.

The other option is to get a GigaAce expansion card for the Avantis and use the Avantis to connect both the GX4816 stage box and the SQ console. If you wanted the system to work whether the SQ was plugged in or not, this is the way to set everything up. The downside is that the Avantis GigaAce card is a lot more expensive than the SQ Slink card, and it will require two network cables to be run between the stage and the FOH position (assuming you want the SQ on stage).

Thank you so much guys

In this case there’s no one mixer on stage, he wants to do foh with SQ, and I didn’t want to put a passive splitter.

Thanks for the info, appreciated! :raising_hands:
