I am trying to connect a new QU-5 mixer to an older QU-Pac to use the latter as a stagebox. Both mixers have had their firmware updated. The QU-Pac is saying Not Connected and the QU-5 is giving an Audio Not Synced error. I have connected an AB168 to both mixers and it works without any problems. Any advice would be appreciated.
I did. When it is on Internal I have a green tick and when I change to SLink I get an exclamation mark and error.
In that case, I wouldn’t know off the top of my head what you might have done wrong.
You have connected the dSnake port to the SLink port using a cable of at least Cat5e standard, and the corresponding LEDs on both sides have started blinking.?
Works fine with the stage box on the same cable.
My question was whether both LEDs blink when you connect both consoles using the (at least) Cat5e cable.
Yes they do and using Cat6a cable
That’s quite strange.
But to narrow down the error, the first step I would do is try a different cable anyway; would simply place both consoles side-by-side and use a short network patch cable for the test.
Yep, I tried that with a half meter Cat6 cable. Same issue.
I believe you can connect the QU-pac to the new QU-5 console, but the QU-5 console must act at the master clock. This means the clock in the QU-5 should be set to “internal” and the clock in the QU-pac should be set to “Slink”
As far as I am familiar with the older QU models, there is no option to change the audio clock source on them.
Therefore, this needs to be done on the QU-5 - something the OP likely knew and has already done.
Why this isn’t working in the present case is a mystery to me.
That’s right. There is no option to change the Sync on the QU-PAC so I set the QU-5 to Slink sync.
