I am thinking of buying 2 AR2412 and using them as a 48 channel stagebox.
The connections would be:
SQ S-Link → AR2412(1) dSnake
AR2412(1) Expander → AR2412(2) dSnake
So far I have not found any information regarding if this will work. The SQ is a 48 channel desk (on paper) and it’s supposed to work with the AR2412. I just dont know if the Expander Slot on the AR will work with yet another AR2412.

No, unfortunately that is not possible.
The used dSnake protocol allows a maximum of 40 inputs (and 20 outputs), so you can on one SLink only operate a maximum of one AR2412 and one AB168.
A way you can achieve utilising both AR2412, would be to get a S-Link card an run the second AR2412 on that.

Yes - if you have a second SLink port (through an option card) it counts a separate chain of dSnake devices. Steine is absolutely correct.
Yeah, I had to do this when I got my SQ5, as something went wrong when I was doing my research on everything. I bought the same stage boxes/racks as well and then realised it wouldn’t work.
Second SLink card for the IO Port wasn’t too expensive and worked a treat.
