Hi,
We have a remote TV production unit with an Avantis console. Our S-link port is connected to an internal 48x16 box for inside the truck audio sources and destinations.
We have a Giga-Ace card for an external 48x16 stage box.
We will be recording in a venue that also has an Avantis and a 48x16 stage box connected via the S-link port. The venue console has no expansion cards so we cannot direct connect the consoles.
Can I use the DX ports on the 48x16’s to link the systems together to get a 32x32 audio path between consoles?
If that won’t work can I use my s-link port to connect to the venue 48x16 DX port and get a 32x32 path.
I’m pretty new to Avantis so not fully up to speed on all the neat stuff it can do.
Thanks
Matt
No. Unfortunately this is not possible.
I don’t understand exactly what you are trying to do here. But I guess it’s not possible either.
The only possible solution I can imagine here, is that you put the GigaACE card in the Avantis from the venue, and connect your console to this card. In this case, you lose the GX4816-connection in your truck.
Or you can try to rent an additional GigaACE card for the show.
You are not going to be able to connect the venue’s Avantis with your system unless it has an expansion card (assuming it has a stage box connected to it’s built in SLink port). This could be another GigaAce card that is connected to your GigaAce card, or if both Avantis have matching Dante, Waves, or Madi cards, you can link the systems together using one of those protocols.
As Steffen has noted, there is no way to use DX/GX stage boxes to create this link between the two systems.
You might check your local suppliers to see if you can rent expansion card(s) if it is important to link the two systems together.
Trying to link the two consoles together without any additional hardware. The venue console does not have any expansion cards and they are using the S-link port for the venue 48x16 stagebox.
We have a 48x16 stage box and I was asking if we could connect the two 48x16 boxes together using the 48x16 boxes built in DX ports and have a 32x32 path between the systems.
I hope this explains it better.
That is not possible, as mentioned twice.
Thanks for responding. It would have been nice to just link them up, one cable and done.
We will probably just do it old-school with mic splits, the stage only needs 16 inputs.
Yes I was responding to you saying.
