Controlling CQ20B vía MIDI

Ok, I have various pieces of gear acquired over the years that are not being put to use as much as before because of setup changes, etc. But I have this idea, please let me know if this is doable.

1.- I control my CQ20B using Mixing station and an old Android tablet, it works great as of right now for simple app related functions.

2.- I also have an AMPERO Control 4 button programmable footswitch that can send MIDI messages over Bluetooth (amongst other ways).

3.-I have a YAMAHA UD-BT01 Bluetooth Wireless MIDI Adapter.

Thing I want to do is send midi from the AMPERO to the tablet over Bluetooth, and then send the MIDI messages (I think there’s some translation done by Mixing Station here?) from the Tablet to the CQ vía Bluetooth (planning to use a small USB A to B cable to connect the UD-BT01 to the CQ20B).

Is this doable? Will the CQ20B power the UD-BT01 thru its USB A connection?

Any help or insight is appreciated, thanks.

I am not a Mixing Station user, so expect speculations. I don’t think you need the Bluetooth receiver connected to the mixer. Your pedal would simply control Mixing Station, which has its own MIDI implementation. Then Mixing Station controls the CQ over WiFi just as it already does when you use the app directly.

Yes the Ampero will talk to the tablet with no pb.
But the tablet won’t talk to the CQ via the UD-BT01.
First The USB-B port of the CQ is not powered, and second the UD-BT01 doesn’t act as a midi Host.
The CQ will just not recognise it.

The UD-BT01 connects to the A port for power and to the B port with a cable to do its thing, the host in this case would be the tablet wouldn’t it? The UD-BT01 would be acting as a cable in this case, to connect the tablet to the CQ-20B. However this would be unnecessary if what Vedeja said was right (Mixing station sending MIDI over WiFi). I haven’t had the chance to try this as both my ampero control and UD-BT01 are in storage.

No, as I said the UD-BT01 is not a USB Host, it cannot “talk” to the CQ20B.
I order to speak midi, 2 devices requires that at least one act as a USB host.
To control the CQ over midi, it needs to be connected to something that act as a MIDI host (a PC, a tablet, a dedicated Midi host device).
If you connect the UD-BT01 to the CQ, that will not work.
But if you connect your tablet via cable to the CQ that will work (but it is no more BLE midi in this case, it is a direct audio/midi connection).
