Converting cq20b into a stage box

I have done some research and found out that you are capable of transmitting USB B over a 164 ft cable with signal boosters embedded within the cable.

What I would like the product engineer to take a look at, is being able to connect the cq20b to the qu24 via USB B cable. Send the output of the cq20b 16 channels in real time into the qu24 so that we can control the volumes with the first 16 sliders of the qu24 board.

We just have to get the qu24 USB B to accept the signal coming from the cq20b as if it was being broadcasted from a laptop.

Technically we’d be using the cq20b as a stage box with some extra features allowing us to save the old qu24 equipment and give it new life without having to purchase the SQ series of console.

I know you can buy a stage box for the QU24 but if we’re capable of connecting the cp20b via USB cable, this would allow us the higher quality inputs for the bigger shows but also allow us to just use the cq20b as a standalone unit for smaller shows without having to bring the QU24 board.

Thanks

Hi there,

This can’t work as you’ve described, I’m afraid - both QU-24 and CQ-20B’s USB connections are device type and need to be connected to a host. You couldn’t connect a device to device as neither one can be the host. You could do this if you routed both consoles through a computer first but you’d be adding fairly significant latency through the double USB transmit/receive.

Honestly, you’d have a far better experience with a stagebox - it would be simpler and more reliable, and have lower latency.
