CQ-18T - Connecting Two Consoles - Master & Sub Mixers

Hi,

I’ve got an event this weekend where one of the acts has their own CQ-18T.

What is the best and safest way to link the two consoles together?

Thanks in advance for your help and support! :upside_down_face:

The CQ series consoles are not “expandable” which means you cannot digitally connect them together. The only real option is to take the analog output of one system and use it as an analog input of the second system.

Alternatively, you could simply connect the console being used for the 1st band to the PA and then physically move the PA’s XLR connections from the 1st console to the 2nd console when it’s their time to play.

Thanks @Brian-1.

I have read that you can do main-LR XLR on the sub-mixer into the analogue inputs on the main. Would that be right?

I wish on the PA front  but not to be this time around hence the question.

That is how I would handle it. The “sub mix” from the first console would be mixed by the engineer and outputted through it’s XLR cables. Those cables would go into the second “main” console just like any other input source. Of course you will want to make sure the gain structure is set correctly. The output of the first console is going to be “line level” which is much higher than normal analog inputs, so it would be expected that the preamp gain on those inputs from the 1st console would be very low - perhaps even set at zero.
