I’ve been using the CQ18 since September 2024 (this is my second unit; I returned the first one because of the same issue). Last week, during rehearsal, it crackled loudly and shut down. Did it a couple of times after that. I know some of you had experienced the same issue… what was your solution??
Are you using the device at the same venue a lot? I wonder how “clean” the power is at that venue. I ask because it’s surprising that you would experience what seems to be two power related issues on two different CQ18s if it wasn’t someone related to the environment you are using the equipment in. I’m not saying it’s impossible for two different CQ18s to fail in the same way, but certainly I would begin to consider possible environmental factors too. Just something to think about…
The first unit started doing it in our rehearsal room, and I immediately returned it because we had a QSC that never failed before, so I just assumed it was just a faulty unit. We got the replacement, and it worked just fine for 20 months. It was always plugged into a power conditioner. It experienced the same symptoms in 2 different locations: the rehearsal room and my personal studio. Luckily, never happened in a live situation during a paid gig.
Well it doesn’t sound like the any environmental issues are causing the problem then. I hate you are having these issues… Hopefully they can be corrected easily!
