CQ-18T - small LED light using USB A port?

Good day,

I am wondering if it is possible to plug in a small gooseneck LED light to the USB A port on the CQ-18T? How much power is available at this port? And any recommendations for such a device if this will work?

Thank you in advance!

Hi bongo!

Yes - this works fine. The port only delivers USB 2 spec maximum current, so 500mA - anything up to that will work OK. We wouldn’t recommend putting anything in there that can draw more than 500mA.

Thanks @MarkF for the quick reply!

I’m interested in this too. I see a whole bunch of them on Amazon. Has anyone bought one, and if so, which one and did it work well?

I was considering buying/trying one of these phantom powered XLR lights:

Only buzzkill is the DHL shipping charges to the US - costs more than the light.

Never mind. Only saw the Dollar sign on the page. Didn’t realise it was Australian Dollars.

It would be interesting to know if and to what extent such a light is actually usable.
While USB 2 provides approximately 2.5 W, phantom power could theoretically only achieve up to 0.5 W (which at least the excluded X32 cannot achieve).
It would be great if you could tell us whether such a light could still achieve sufficient brightness for the intended purpose.

I ended up getting this one, and it works great plugged into the USB port:

Hi Guys , im using this one already for 2 years , i will say that was made for it
